User Reviews about Garmont Men's Syncro GTX Hiking Boot

I purchased an older version of this boot back in March 2002 and I officially wore through the soles in February 2010. These boots went with me for a week long hike in the grand canyon, countless summers with frequent trekking through northern Wisconsin, on countless job sites (here and there as an architect) and also as snow boots in Maryland these last few years. I have yet to find a better boot and am purchasing another pair to replace the ones I finally wore through. Their ultimate failure occurred as the sole separated from the boot on the right-hand side of the right boot. Also, the sole on the inside of the left boot cracked due to constant rubbing from how I walk. Although...given what these boots have been through, I am not surprised. Can't wait for my next pair...highly recommended. -- recommended
I got these boots about 4 months ago. I went hiking in TN in the Snow. The boots allowed my feet to get a little cold, but I was wearing cotton socks instead of my wool ones, so I won't knock the boots here. What did annoy me was the insanely long laces. Tied into a standard bow, the loop and the ends of the laces still touch the ground. That's just crazy. Guess it's handy in a pinch if you need to pitch a make shift tent with a tarp between two trees, but, for me, they had to be replaced. The rubber seems strong and grippy, but the pattern does cake mud (show me one that doesnt!) The rubber does not wrap around the toe box as evident in the pictures. Time will have to tell on how well they hold up in that area. They feel very supportive and not too hard on solid ground. I'm pretty happy with them. -- Great Boots, LONG laces
